The Million DJ March Impacts Washington, DC w/ The Untouchable DJ Drastic & DJs Worldwide!

The Million DJ March is set to impact Washington, DC on August 29th, 2008 & August 30th, 2008. The event’s organizers (A. Shaw and company) have structured strong alliances and professional affiliations with DJs such as The Untouchable DJ Drastic, Green Lantern, and many more. DJ collectives from around the globe are also at the forefront of this monumental event. Collectives such as The BumSquad DJz, The Coalition Network, The Core DJs, and many more have signed on to participate in the movement as official affiliates and/or presenters.

The Million DJ March is structured to assist the growth and preservation of culture amongst the DJ community and business. As a whole, the DJ is often the most underappreciated component of the entertainment business. Since the 70’s, the DJ has always been perceived as underground. As we fast forward to 2008, the music business has changed dramatically for artists and DJs alike. Only professional DJs know the pros and cons of the business. While a majority of professional DJs are able to earn income from a career in the entertainment business, very few have medical benefits and often face challenges to maintain their positions.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic is a key initiator of The Million DJ March. In an internet clip that surfaced on the World Wide Web; The Untouchable DJ Drastic stated, “For every artist that is successful there’s been the first DJ that broke their record and the DJs that have carried them throughout their careers through good times and bad. The R.I.A.A. wants to come down on DJs for mix tapes and things of that nature. The DJ has always helped the artist and a lot of the artists get the recognition all the time. It’s just different things that we want to structure for the DJs because we are the true tastemakers within the music industry.”

In correspondence with this release, The Untouchable DJ Drastic further stated, “The music business is suffering as a result of piracy and over saturation. DJs need to come together and strive for change. Why is there no category for the DJ at the Grammy Awards? Why is the R.I.A.A. coming down on DJs for mix tapes? If it wasn’t for DJs, no music would ever reach the public. We’re the ones that first told you about these artists! We need to structure a trade labor union for DJs so that we can all comfortably provide for our families as with any other profession. I’m sure the owners of most nightclubs would feel differently if they began to receive calls from management stating that there was a giant inflatable rat posted outside of their venue. Most DJs don’t even have medical benefits. This is a problem. Artists and record labels are making anywhere from thousands to millions of dollars off the work of DJs. Most DJs will never see reparation. Record labels need to look to hire more reputable DJs to handle their tasks. After all, DJs are the ones that have the ties to the mass public. I speak on behalf of the DJ community in hopes that that the music industry can continue to be productive and profitable for all of us. We all need to help each other in many ways. Piracy is an epidemic but it’s only part of the problem. DJs need to take a stand financially as far as a minimum pay rate that is accepted to perform on any occasion. All these issues will be addressed but change takes time. Help take the first step towards change amongst the DJ community. We need to solidify our future before someone else does it for us!”

The Million DJ March’s events will commence on August 29th, 2008. The official rally is set to take place on August 30th, 2008 at The National Mall in Washington, DC. For more information and/or registration go to www.MillionDJMarch.com

The Untouchable DJ Drastic Rocks NYC's Plumm Nightclub w/ Fame's Allure & Surprise Guest Che'Nelle

The Untouchable DJ Drastic Rocks NYC's Plumm Nightclub w/ Fame's Allure & Surprise Guest Che'Nelle

This past weekend (08.02.08), DAPS’s own Untouchable DJ Drastic rocked New York City’s Plumm nightclub. The crowd went home happy at this highly anticipated appearance date. As the Fame’s Allure fashion show experienced technical difficulties through the early parts of the evening, The Untouchable DJ Drastic seemed relatively unaffected burning through record after record. He presented an eclectic mix of party tunes to a room full of fashion enthusiasts.

Once the technical issues were rectified, the show went on as planned. The Untouchable DJ Drastic continued to mix seamlessly throughout the actual fashion showcase. DAPS was able to obtain some exclusive footage.

The fashion line’s creators took the floor late in the night to present their concluding speeches. A big surprise came about prior to the event’s conclusion. The Untouchable DJ Drastic introduced EMI recording artist Che’Nelle to the crowd. She went on to freestyle, displaying her vocal ability and range; she even went on to sing an acapella version of “I Fell In Love With DJ Drastic.” A dub version of her popular single, “I Fell In Love With The DJ Remix” which features Jamaican reggae star Baby Cham.

The Untouchable DJ Drastic does it again! Exclusive images and video footage to follow.
